Bob Jonsen, candidate for Santa Clara County Sheriff Interview with Arthi Abhyanker

Today I interviewed Bob Jonsen, current Chief of Police of the City of Palo Alto, who is one of the five candidates running for Santa Clara County Sheriff. This is the first election for sheriff in our county in 20 years. Some of highlights from my talk with Bob was : * Bob highlights that transparency, accountability, and police reform are three values he hopes to promote in the Santa Clara County Law Enforcement.

* Bob addresses the uptick in crime, homelessness, and lack of mental health resources as current issues in Santa Clara County that he hopes to address with a strategic plans, and programs.


* Bob aims to implement many Psychiatric Emergency Response Teams to a county wide level, a program that was first started in Palo Alto under his administration.

* Bob wants to reallocate funding so that apprentice programs, rehabilitation programs, and educational programs available for inmates from Day 1, so they can start down the path to re-enter society sooner. Here is the video interview today with Bob Jonsen:
